Q. Brilliant

A. Thank you.

Q. I'm just curious to know. Are you a fan of REAR WINDOW or Hitchcock films and --
A. Sure.

Q. Do you want to talk about how Hitchcock inspired you and you put more of a message into this movie?
A. I mean, it's funny. It shares a lot of the structure of
REAR WINDOW, where there is a story of somebody who looks into a neighbor's window. But stylistically it's really different from REAR WINDOW. It's -- and this story came from a podcast, actually, that I heard on Love + Radio that was also aired on Radiolab. So there was a true story at the kernel of the film that I made.

Q. Hello. Congratulations.

A. Thank you very much.

Q. And so you were nominated last year for a short doc. You are winning this year for a short live action. What is it about short films that you keep coming back to them with great pleasure?
A. I mean, I've made a number of feature documentaries, but in the last two years I've made a couple of shorts, and really love the medium of shorts. It's great to be able to try to tell a story in a concise way, and I feel like you can get it out to a wider audience for an independent film when it's bite-sized. So I love that medium.
