Imgine the opening credits of Star Wars without John Williams’ theme. Try and think of Lawrence of Arabia without Maurice Jarre’s sweeping score. And where would the Spaghetti Western be without Ennio Morricone? A great film score is integral to a great film. In this new series, we’ve invited some exceptional composers – all of whom have won an Academy Award for their work – to talk about their careers and the score for which they won the Oscar, alongside a screening of that film. This isn’t your typical film and love music event, but a chance to go deeper into the sounds of cinema. All screenings are curated and introduced by Oscar-nominated composer, Gary Yershon. Discover secrets of the film world and to hear the music of classic films in a new and illuminating way.

Experimental and exciting, Steven Price’s score for Alfonso Cuarón’s epic space adventure is typical of the composer’s inventive work, which includes music for Attack the Block, Fury and DC’s Suicide Squad. This is an opportunity to hear from one of the industry’s newest talents, alongside a modern classic.
