Oscar nominee Deborah Nadoolman Landis, the curator of Hollywood Costume and costume designer of such classics as Raiders of the Lost Ark and National Lampoon’s Animal House, will moderate a discussion with three of today’s top costume designers focusing on the essential role of costumes in film characterization.

Danny Glicker’s career has encompassed a diverse array of genres, including the period dramas Northfork and On the Road, the horror film The Hills Have Eyes, the comedy-dramas Transamerica and Up in the Air, and the wild apocalyptic farce This Is the End. He received an Oscar nomination for his colorful and historically authentic designs for MilkJudianna Makovsky received her first Oscar nomination for Pleasantville, with her visually inventive designs straddling the film’s mixture of black-and-white and color imagery, and she will discuss her impressive body of work from the true-life period drama of Seabiscuit to the “Young Adult” worlds of Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. Michael Wilkinson has had a similarly eclectic career moving from the indie drama of Garden State to stylish graphic novel adaptations like 300 and Watchmen, as well as two films from 2013 that showcase his impressive range: his reinvention of the classic Superman costume for Man of Steel and his witty, Oscar-nominated ‘70s fashions for American Hustle.
